Who We Are
After graduating from the University Of South Carolina, Pave the Way's Bryan Tomes began a diverse journey through the educational world. He started in public education, first as a Remediation Consultant, supporting students and teachers in boosting achievement scores. This led to an interest in Learning Differences and specialized training with TEACCH (https://teacch.com/) and work as an Inclusion Expert with tweens with ASD 1. Not yet finding his niche, Bryan spent some time as a High School History and Social Studies teacher. This redirected his attention to School Leadership and the Masters in School Administration program at Western Carolina Universtiy.
A chance meeting with collegue from his time post-college exploring the natural beauty of Vermont intiated a transition to the private sector. This was a great fit, an environment where flexibity to meet student needs was the only imperitive; there was no beauracracy to navigate, no fight for access to resources. It seemed Bryan's career was building to this opportunity. Bryan served as Academic Director for 6 years at residential, therapeutic school. In the early 2010's, he was presented an opportunity to be part of a team to create their own school. Over the next 10 years Bryan was part of founding and developing three threapeutic schools; for middle school girls, high school girls, and high school boys.
The culmination of that journey is to share the knowledge, experience and relationships of 20 years of navigating public and private schools, alternate placements, educational law, insurance and financial needs to help families get the support they need. Pave The Way was founded in 2024 to meet this area of need.
